I'd like to point out that currently I have two polls up for debate, as can be seen here explaining two routes the asylum's project can take. IE: spoiler free reviews, spoilerific reviews, and whatnot. =) Otherwise, the FAQ and The Rules are already up. The tags/memory post is still a WIP.
I am also open to affiliating with other comic book and/or Batman related asylums, except for RPGs.

First of all, happy-making thing of the day (so far): There is a guy in my building who I often see walking his two dogs that look just like him. Heh. They're all sort of burly and stuff but the dogs look really nice. I like seeing them because they seem like a happy family. Lately, I've only seen him with one of the dogs, though, which made me assume... bad things about the other. :( But! This morning I saw both of them again! It just made me super happy that the second dog was okay and back and they were all strutting down the street together again. All is right with the universe. :)
Second of all, recs! So, back in the summer, my co-mod, dracofiend, had this cool idea of doing a Remix mini-fest at our infidelity comm, hp_unfaithful. So we did. :) Anyone who signed up had to offer two of their fics for remixing, and then the other participants could go through that post and just pick anything from the links that they wanted to remix. Not everyone's stories got remixed under this format, alas, but it was a nice, low-stress way to do it.
At any rate, we're all done now, and the masterlist is up, if you're interested in perusing. The remixes are all short and easy to digest over a coffee break. :) I posted my own remix last week, and then when I checked back at the comm over the weekend, I saw that both my proposed stories had been remixed by others! *dancey* And they are both super cool:

While Sirius is off on an errand for the groom, Remus does his best to help the groom out in other ways.
*cackles with glee* This is a remix of my old Sirius/Lily fic, Nice Day for a White Wedding, which features blatant wedding day infidelity. gryffindor_j turned it around to show us just what the groom and his other groomsman might have been getting up to while the best man was having a turn with the bride. *glee* Sexy and funny and a wonderful complement to the original.

*clutches heart* This is a remix of my post-DH, angst-trainwreck of a Remus/Bill fic, Fifty Words Unspoken. dracofiend did amazing things not only with Remus's POV and the emotions of all the characters, but also with the weird structure I had in the original. I love how she's chosen six of the title words from each segment and woven them into a new form. Really beautiful and haunting.

Hello all,
What a year it's been. All I can seem to think to say is, 'Wow'. Some of these most extraordinary things have happened and I'm not even sure where to begin. It's all happened so fast and the only thing I've realized is how out of touch with things I've become.
Oh, not that I'm old and it's one of those generational gap things, not at all. I'm just...I'm not sure how I can explain it. People in the world today are so different in their views, they seem to think that everything happening is new or some how unique. Bad guys getting away with the loot, politicians acting like children, world gone mad, freedoms being experienced for the very first time, it's all so much to take in.
It's little wonder we're starting to question, well, everything. The saying goes, I think, 'these are the times that try men's souls'. I don't know about men's, but mine is sure feeling a little used. See, I made a little joke. It's what some people do when they're nervous and not quite sure what to say. Guess it just helps to have someone to say it to.
Do you need someone to talk to? I've got a free ear and some cheese cake.

Just a quick post to rec two pieces of amazing H/D art. Though they both use several images to tell a story, stylistically they are very different. And yet beautiful, poignant, and artistic in their own right.
The first one is To Separate from Life (H/D, G), and the second is Your Heart's Desire (H/D, PG). Once again it feels a bit silly not to be able to name the artists but since both the artworks are fest contributions, the artists must remain anonymous for the time being. ;) Enjoy!

It will help an awful lot to read that before this one; it won't take you long. :) I turned it around to Snape's POV and made it more overtly an infidelity ficlet (as per the challenge). I've been thinking about what being in fandom and out of fandom means in my case -- well, apart from the obvious, such as participating in various events, doing community service, and such. It also means that, for example, in my time in HP fandom, any couple of recs I posted were two from a hundred fics read or tried. Now it means two out of three that I tried :) I'm not going out of my way to find new interesting things anymore, nor am I willing to try a fic if I find something (even a tiny something) displeasing in the headers. And if I do try reading something, chances are I'll never finish it. I mean, finishing a HP fic has become exception rather than rule. I find this sort of change very amusing. :)
A Confusion of Will and Desire, by Gatewaygirl ##
Harry/Draco, some Harry/Ginny, Harry/OFC, NC-17, novel-length. Canon Compliancy: EWE. Summary: When Harry starts to have erotic dreams about his godfather, he questions his sexual preference. The real issue turns out to be even more complicated and disruptive. Warnings: highlight in the fic post.
Gatewaygirl writes my dream Harry/Draco. Well, she writes my-dream-many-a-thing; she's only of my favourite writers in general. But her H/D, rare as it is, is unique, as for me. It's long, plotty enough, sexy, and has this something undefinable that charms the pants off me. If you have read her Snakes and Lions, you'll love this fic: it has some similar ideas, only shown differently, and somewhat similar relationship dynamics. Somewhat, not quite. (If you haven't read SaL, whatever are you waiting for?)
I saw this story posted and thought the premise looked intriguing. Ha! The actual story turned to be even more intriguing, and I was completely hooked by the second thousand words. What's happening to Harry at the beginning is both interesting and creepy. Of course I wanted to know what was going on. When very soon Harry had to talk to a Muggle shrink, well, this was the scene that made me fall in love with this fic. It's hilarious, even though it's not comedic per se. It's just... try to imagine in detail how the story of Harry's life and various relationships would look if told to a Muggle. Yeah :)
Anyway, it's near 70K words that kept my attention all the way. The ending parts show us some ideal version of HP reality, of sorts. I don't mean that it's all roses, fluffy bunnies, and holding hands. It's hard to explain. I mean, in another story, I probably would dismiss the last few parts as too easy or unbelievable, but in this one, they weren't unbelievable at all. We've been led to it through the entire story, so as a result, those last parts are as enchanting as the rest of the fic, and not boring at all, as I would have expected. I probably confused everybody completely, so to summarise: I loved the story, the beginning, the middle, the ending, all of it :) Do try it!
Sweatin' to the Voldies, by [anon] ##
Harry/Draco, (mostly past) Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, NC-17, 24,500 words. Summary: The-Boy-Who-Lived has become The-Boy-Who-Ate, and his girlfriend just can't take it anymore. After Ginny leaves Harry for presumably slimmer pastures, Harry realizes that if he has any chance of getting her back, he's going to have to get fit quick. It's really just his bad luck that a certain pale, pointy bastard owns the only wizarding gym in the country. Warnings: EWE, frottage, rimming, tiny bit of movie canon (flying origami notes).
If you are one of those people who are tired of Draco always been portrayed as slim or skinny, this fic is for you. It features bulky!Draco. Yes, it also features fat!Harry. Both of which I'm happy to see because after so many HP fics read, I welcome any believable step off the well-trodden road of H/D fiction. The fic is at once refreshing, entertaining, very vivid, and moving. What else to wish! Well, good writing of course but it has that too. To quote a reviewer, "It was the perfect balance of humour, plot, angst and reality." I do admit that I don't believe in this Draco's motivation of opening the gym -- or don't completely buy it -- but it's a really enjoyable reading on the whole, and certain scenes are plain hilarious. Which makes me strongly suspect who the author is, but I'll keep that to myself. Highly recommended!

♥ Pomegranate (H/D, NC-17, WC: ~14,500) featuring Chef!Draco and Guest!Harry
Summary: More than a decade after the War, Draco makes a triumphant return to the wizarding world as the successful chef/owner of Pomegranate, only to have his world thrown into disorder when Harry arrives unexpectedly in the dining room.
In true Malfoy fashion, this realisation did not kindle even a spark of remorse in Draco; instead it ignited an inferno of indignation. Potter had obviously written the shitty review because Draco had knocked back his advances! Just as obvious, in Draco's alcohol-addled mind, was the solution: he would have to shag Potter to get a good review.
♥ Respect Your Editors (H/D, PG-13,WC: ~4,500) featuring Advertiser!Draco and Ice-Cream Vendor!Harry (Also: 'COCKS! EVERYONE NEEDS THEM!')
Summary: Junior VP of advertising Draco is almost certainly going to lose his job over an editing fiasco with his latest batch of ads for Starry's Starry Socks and instead of freaking out at the office, he goes to vent in a Muggle park. He accidentally comes across Harry, who has become a Muggle ice cream van driver, and the two of them get to know each other again over ice cream, sherbet and a little bit of time.
"Wait, hold on!" Harry nearly tipped out of the serving window as he leaned forward. "Sorry, this is just weird, you know?"
Draco half turned back to him. "Harry Potter is an ice cream man. You save the world and decide to listen to the same little song in a chilly van for the rest of your life. I am aware of the weirdness."
♥ The Adventures of Harry Potter, Pervert, and Draco Malfoy, Porn Star (Un-Cut) (H/D, NC-17, WC: ~16,300) featuring Pervert!Harry and Porn Star!Draco Lucas Black
Summary: In Harry’s flat, Friday night is porn night, and that’s that. Then, an unexpected face pops up in Some Like it Cock, and Harry can’t get Draco Malfoy out of his head. In the end, thanks to a tearaway Teddy, Harry doesn’t have to, but neither man is willing to reveal their secret…
"Aren't you older than me?" Harry said with a laugh.
"I keep in very good shape," Malfoy said salaciously.
Harry turned around, and surprised at his own boldness, looked Draco up and down very obviously. "I can tell," he said with a smile, which he hoped was seductive and secretive and passionate, but feared was slightly creepy.

Summary: herein Draco Malfoy is a Forensic Analyst employed by the DMLE, has an ongoing feud with Coulson who works days, irreparably frightens assistants, imbibes massive amounts of coffee and quite possibly engages in too much snarky banter with his liaison, Inspector Potter.
"Your husband is bloody fit!" the shorter one swoons, tightening her grip on Draco's arm.
The taller one takes Draco's other arm. "And he's so good with the children!"
They share a commiserating look. "Why do all the good ones have to be gay?"
Draco bites back a scathing comment. Silence is his friend in these situations.
♥ All That Remains (H/D, R, WC: ~21,000) featuring Volunteer Worker!Draco and Homeless Veteran!Harry
Summary: In a Great Britain destroyed by war and plagued by magical epidemics, those who are left behind struggle to survive and find meaning.
It takes several more tries before Draco can convince Potter to drink a few sips, then he simply sits with the other man's head in his lap for a while. He can hardly believe it, it's so bizarre: Potter wanting to die because he thought he wouldn't see Draco any more? It has to be some kind of weird dream.
♥ Incidental Charms (H/D, NC-17, WC: ~11,500) featuring Para Investigator!Harry and Inventor of DACH-Daydream Charms!Draco (You'll appreciate the fic more if you're familiar with The Administration Series by Manna Francis)
Summary: Draco Malfoy has spent the last twelve years trying to build a successful business in a post-war world where the Administration has replaced the defunct Ministry for Magic and pure-bloods' rights are almost non-existent. Now his company, DACH Inc., is under the scrutiny of Senior Para Investigator Harry Potter and Malfoy must tread carefully.
"Anyway, eager little thing. On his knees before I could even ward the door. He was at it about ten minutes and his jaw had to be aching. Funny thing, but he wasn't cutting it." Potter's fingers pressed into Malfoy's hips. "He just wasn't what I was looking for. Young and innocent and brainless. He'd learned about the war from books and the bloody Prophet. So I stopped looking at him and instead pictured that he had a snotty smirk and clever grey eyes. I added hands behind his back with I&I cuffs and was finally able to spill my load down his throat. And you know what he said after he spit his mouthful into the rubbish bin? 'Who the fuck is Malfoy?' That's what he said." Potter chuckled and bit Malfoy's shoulder.
♥ Drink Up Thy Zider: A South Hams Pomona (H/D, R, WC: ~40,000) featuring Cider Maker!Harry and Banker!Draco (This fic is quite the case; I guarantee you don't often come across H/D fics so immersed in all things British like this one.)
Summary: Harry, like Draco a widower, their children being adults or soon to become so, has retired to a South Hams village, where he farms and makes cider in a gentlemanly way, not that the Ministry accepts that he’s not a political threat. When Draco is accused of huge losses and malfeasance in his position at Goldstein & Zabini, the private and merchant bank that straddles the Muggle-magical boundary, Blaise and Pansy arrange for him to escape to South Devon whilst awaiting the investigation. Naturally, Draco’s friends – and his mother and his son – have a hidden agenda.
Draco had committed yet another solecism at tea, putting his clotted cream and jam on his scones in the Cornish order of precedence rather than in the Devonian; he had accepted correction coolly, beginning as he meant to go on. Nothing - not even the need to mask his intentions beneath an uncommon meekness - would divert him from the dicey path he must tread: he was the master of his fate, the captain of his -
